Ravi's Journey To Mela

For a chef used to travelling & working around the globe, it's ironically a very short journey along the A361 that Ravi Yedhati describes as 'his most exciting'.

For the smiling 35-year-old is now the head chef & part-owner of the 'new' Mela Restaurant in Old Town after honing his creative skills at the acclaimed Palm restaurant nearby in Marlborough for the last 7 years.

And he can't wait to bring his culinary ideas and something different to the people of Swindon.

"This is going to be my first restaurant offering a modern approach to traditional Indian cuisine," he said.

"It’s something I’ve always wanted to do. And when the opportunity came up to start here in an area of the world I love, I couldn't refuse”.

Indian-style tapas & the famous Hyderabadi Dum Biryani (where Ravi originally worked) are just a number of fresh, new dishes diners at Mela can expect.

Plus excellent customer service, something Ravi believes has to go hand-in-hand with exceptional cuisine.

"It's all part of the whole experience of enjoying good food," he adds, "and very often the element we all remember on a night out."

"Our aim here at Mela is two-fold and very simple - to stand out from the crowd for our innovative Indian cuisine, plus provide patient, attentive service that our customers will appreciate. It's the essential ingredients of the all-new Mela Restaurant."
